Jersey travel guide
Do you need a car in Jersey?
No — most visitors don’t need a car in Jersey. LibertyBus reaches every parish from St Helier’s Liberation Station, a seven-day pass costs about £30, and parking at the popular bays fills by mid-morning in summer. Hire a car only if you’re staying rural, travelling with lots of kit, or visiting in deep winter when buses thin out.

Your questions, answered
How do you pay for buses in Jersey?
Pay the driver by contactless card or cash, or use an AvanchiCard for multi-day passes. A seven-day unlimited pass is the best value for a typical holiday.
Is driving in Jersey difficult?
The island’s maximum speed limit is 40 mph, green lanes are limited to 15 mph, and several junctions use filter-in-turn — a politeness system where drivers take turns. Lanes are narrow; hire the smallest car you can.
